List who uses the bathroom, when two people need it, whether anyone sits to bathe or dress, what is hard to reach, where towels and daily products belong and which tasks create crowding. Separate current needs from useful future preparation.

Accessibility is not one preset style. It can mean a wider clear route, a lower-threshold shower, a seat, well-placed controls, stronger lighting, a less slippery floor or blocking inside the wall for supports that may be added later. Product dimensions and a site assessment decide what fits.

Measure the objects that move through the plan

Keep controls reachable from the intended position. Consider the path to the shower, the threshold, the wet standing area and where a dry towel can be reached. Avoid treating a curbless look as proof that the entire route works for a particular user.

Let cleaning and water shape the finish plan

Small grout joints, large panels, open shelving, floating vanities and freestanding tubs each change cleaning access. Ask who will maintain the room and what products are acceptable. Provide space to reach shutoffs and serviceable components.
